Ideas Matter!
Everything in politics starts with an idea. Sometimes it’s a burning injustice that’s got to be fixed. Sometimes it's an inspirational vision of how to make the world a better place. A single idea can build new societies, new ways of living that are better than before. An inspiring idea will outlast elections, Parliaments and Prime Ministers, leap national borders and change entire countries. The Conservative Policy Forum is here to find the world-changing, era-defining ideas and shape the policies of tomorrow - be part of the debate!
The EWCA Conservative Policy Forum enables members and supporters of the Party to contribute directly to the Party’s policy-making. Through a process of discussion and debate, we can assist our Member of Parliament and Party Officials formulate strategies on current subjects.
At the last general election, four-out-of-seven commitments in the published manifesto could be traced back to ideas proposed by CPF groups; and almost half of the proposals in the CPF Member’s Manifesto were reflected in the published manifesto.
How does it work?
CCHQ’s Conservative Policy Forum department provides subjects that need to be discussed at Association level. Associations then coordinate a CPF meeting within the constituency - details of which can be found on the Events page. A Guest Speaker, who is knowledgeable on the subject, will be invited to introduce the topic, respond to queries and lead the discussion. The meetings are Chaired by the EWCA CPF Chairman and comments by the Membership are noted and fed directly back to our representatives and CCHQ in London.
Future papers are currently under review and subject to change, but titles for 2022 were as follows:
- Families and Communities
- A dynamic and relevant United Kingdom
- Jobs, business and Micro-Business
- Ideas for next manifesto
- Strengthening grassroots Conservatism
Topics of significant local interest may also be considered. You are welcome to make suggestions on this topic
Please register your interest in any of the sessions relating to the above-mentioned papers NOW - email office@eastwiltshireconservatives.org.uk
It is important that you register as soon as possible as we are very unlikely to arrange a meeting session unless at least five Members have expressed a definite interest in attending any meeting.
