Jonny’s commitment to the Conservative Party began in his teens, canvassing for his MP Malcolm Rifkind and supporting Margaret Thatcher in the 1979 General Election. After graduating from Sandhurst, where he won the Sword of Honour, he went on to a 21‑year career in the British Army. He served in command roles, on operations in Northern Ireland and Iraq, and in Whitehall on three occasions, working for both Conservative and Labour Defence Secretaries. His service included a formal commendation from HM Queen Elizabeth II for valuable service in the Iraq War.
Jonny began his second career in 2005, building consulting businesses across Europe and the United States and later becoming a globally recognised senior corporate advisor in the sport and entertainment sector. He also holds several non‑executive roles.
After 11 years based in the USA, he returned to active politics in 2019 when he was selected for the Candidates List. In the 2024 General Election he represented the Party in Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy, meeting every objective set by the constituency Chair: defeating the incumbent MP, outperforming Reform and securing the Party’s traditional third place in a competitive field of eight.
Jonny holds a Masters Degree in International Politics from the University of Cambridge and has studied strategy formation and implementation at both The Army Staff College and Harvard Business School.
Jonny and his wife Lucy relocated to East Wiltshire in 2025, motivated by family ties and his professional work in London, and now call the Savernake and Durley area home. As Chair of EWCA, he is focused on strengthening the Association, deepening its local roots and ensuring East Wiltshire has a confident, professional and outward‑looking Conservative presence with elected representatives in Parliament and our local Councils.
